Self-care isn’t selfish! For anyone seeking to live a healthy one vital habit is self-care. The thing about self-care is that it’s a practice that requires you to choose to do it. It will not happen unless you intentionally make space for it. But the result is worth the effort.. Self-care also helps us sharpen our mental and physical health through better self-esteem, stress management, and overall well-being.
1. Simplify your schedule
Think about it. If you’re running from activity to activity and always saying yes to new activities. Ask yourself which activities and relationships are truly adding value to your life, and make space for those things.
2. Energize your body
You know your body. There is likely a time of day once you feel more tired. Rather than lying down, you could try getting up and moving at that time of day. Stretch, swim, run, do yoga, or whatever physical activity you enjoy. Exercise is a key part of self-care.
3. Do something new
“If you want something new, you have to stop doing something old.” Peter Drucker. Have you been considering learning a new skill or trying a new hobby? Go for it.
4. Practice mini-meditation

You are the average of the people you spend the most time with. And that’s why it’s not always where you’re in life, but who you’ve got by your side that matters most. Hang out with someone who you love. If they're far away, give them a phone call.

Walking releases endorphins that help lift your mood and may even reduce depression. It also reduces the extent of cortisol in your body, a hormone that's linked to causing stress. Explore your area at a leisurely pace. Walking improves self-perception and self-esteem, mood, and sleep quality, and it reduces stress, anxiety, and fatigue.
7. Try an outdoor workout
Consider taking your sweat session into nature, too. Another study found that outdoor exercise makes people feel more revitalized and energetic, likewise as less tense, confused, depressed, and angry.
Take a nap, go to bed earlier, give your body some extra rest. Prioritize snooze time for a healthier, happier you — even if it’s just a quick cat nap during your lunch break.
